The phone calls and emails are coming in today–all asking the same thing: Did you make the goal? I have not, nor will I in the future, turn staublog into daily fundraising requests and reports, but since so many are asking I’ll take a little time today to report on our situation.

For newcomers to the Center for Faith and Culture and Staublog, we’ve got some big plans (broadcast, podcast and retreats) that will require ($) 365,000 new donations in 2006. At a retreat in February, our board and advisors set a first benchmark of ($) 50,000 in new pledges with ($) 30,000 of those paid in by March 31, 2006.

With one day to go, on Thursday I commented on “the fleece” that this represents for us, in that we trusted this decision into God’s hands through the collective wisdom of our friends and prospective donors.

As of Friday at 4PM we were in the unusual position of having exceeded one goal while being under on the other: we had ($) 67,000 in new pledges, but ($) 26,008 was actually paid in.

At 4PM I received notification of an investment account donation of ($) 4000, which means we made both goals! As of Friday, with pledges postmarked by 3/31 still to be received this week, we received ($) 71,008 in pledges and ($) 30,008 in donations received!

What does this mean?

1) Time for Thanksgiving to God and for everyone who prayed and donated to confirm this next phase of CFC’s development.
2) We will begin to implement the next steps in the development of web-site redesign, podcasts, broadcasts and our first retreat (next Fall).
3) We will continue to call on individuals for donations large and small. We have now secured pledges totaling ($)135,000 towards our annual goal of ($) 365,000 needed in 2006.

So we rejoice at this first step in a long journey and thank you for your support in helping us “illuminate the bridge to God through creatives and the culture they create.”

Yours for the pursuit of God in the company of friends, Dick Staub.
