On the Road: Book. CFC. Chicago. LA. NYC.

You’ve noticed that recently I’ve not been blogging regularly. Two reasons.

First, I’ve just finished a draft of my next book and took a week at Joe and Judy’s cabin to work on it. Second, I am raising prayer and financial support for our next CFC venture. This means traveling–last week and this week and the next week too! Let me provide you with some inside information about the book and CFC’s March 31, 2006 deadline.

First, THE BOOK is about our deep universal longing, for wellness. I take the position that this desire is shared by religious and irreligious alike.

1) We know things aren’t deeply well just by looking at the world around us and at our own personal failings.
2) Deep wellness is holistic: spiritual, intellectual, creative, relational and moral.
3) Our culture and today’s Christianity are both superficial, creating environments not conducive to deep, holistic wellness. We see this superficiality in the entertainment (diversionary), amusement (mindless) celebrity culture and in Christianity-Lite, a mirror image of culture offering its own entertainment, amusement and celebrity.
4) Only by digging a deeper well can we become deeply well. Abraham Heschel once said, “God is of no importance, unless He is of Supreme importance.” Once God is of supreme importance, we will devote ourselves to nurturing a deep, transforming relationship with God.
5) Well people can create a well culture; we come full circle, from acknowledging our mutual desire for wellness, the awareness that the world is not well and the digging of a deeper well, which makes us well and able to contribute to making a well culture.

Second, regarding CFC.

After six years we are ready to launch CFC media.

We’ve laid out a fleece: By March 31, we will receive($) 50,000 dollars in new contributions, ($) 30,000 dollars of which is paid in by March 31, 2006, or we will acknowledge that God is not in our plan, in which case we will back up and regroup. WE need WAY more than that by December 31, 2006: our 2006 budget is ($) 365,000 dollars.

“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” I’m learning a lot about faith in this venture. I got back after traveling for a week, hoping for a PO Box full of pledge cards and donations and it was not the case. I’m going to try to avoid providing you with daily or even weekly updates regarding our progress, because even that seems to be robbing each of our supporters of seeking God to find out what each is supposed to do, if anything.

I’m trying to live by the Andrew Murray quote on our pledge card. I’ll print it below, so you can join us in prayer through the end of the month!

CFC Prayer Card: “God is ready to assume full responsibility for the life that is fully yielded to Him. “Andrew Murray.

1. Pray that we will yield CFC’s future to God.

2. Pray for Dick, Board & Donors that each will receive God’s wisdom & direction.

These resources are required to move ahead:
