Christian Wisdom of the Jedi Masters: Shameless Plug Top Ten List.

Dick Staub’s new book, “Christian Wisdom of the Jedi Masters” just hit the bookstores this past week.

The book is aimed at the next generation and those who love them and was triggered by a conversation over coffee after Dick and a young guy named Ed talked about the Star Wars prequel they had just viewed.

Ed mentioned to Dick that he was interested in going deeper in faith but wouldn’t talk to most guys Dick’s age about it because “you boomers all sold out and did the American dream instead of radically following Jesus.” Dick’s reply became the basis for the new book¢â‚¬¦”So your generation wants to be Jedi Christians and my generation didn’t produce a Yoda!”

The book interprets the process of seeking, knowing and serving the “Lord of the Force” through correlating quotes from the Star Wars movies and radical Christian faith (drawn from mystics, saints and scripture).

I have always tried to help authors get good work to a broader public and perhaps this is why I am bold enough to ask for your assistance. Forgive me if this seems too forward but would you be willing to help me create advocacy and awareness for this book? Here are ten ways you could help promote the book!

1) Buy a copy NOW!
2) Tell your friends about the book (word of mouth is HUGE in the book world!)
3) If you have a blog or website mention the book and link to our special website:
4) Give the book as a gift. (Your kids, Graduation, Father’s Day or Mother’s Day, Birthday, Pastor, Youth Pastor, Star Wars fans)
5) Call your local bookstores and ask if they have it in stock (and tell them you hear it is a great book!)
6) When you are in a bookstore ask to see the book¢â‚¬¦and suggest it be placed on one of the “promotional” tables (new books, star wars table, graduation gift table etc).
7) Go to SW III: Revenge of the Sith (May 19th), take a friend(s) and give them a book afterwards.
8) Coordinate a book reading/signing with the local Major book retailer (Barnes and Noble, Borders). One guy single-handedly arranged a reading at Powell’s, a large independent bookstore in Portland. He’s bringing his youth group and inviting other church and social groups to attend. (Date needs to be coordinated with Dick)
9) Invite Dick to speak at an appropriate event.
10) Email Dick with other suggestions, ideas and things you have tried. AND tell Dick how you liked (or didn’t like) the book.
