Books I Recommend

Since the 1960’s most of my waking hours have been spent trying to understand culture and faith and then interpret each to the other. I’ve read voraciously and as a broadcaster I interview a lot of great authors. People often ask me for a reading list and I’ve been hesitant to compile one ~ there are so many good books and “of the making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.” My library is filled with books I would recommend only to certain people. Many I would not recommend to the faint of heart, mind or faith. Books are friends, advisors and teachers, but as Kafka said, “a book must be an ice-axe to break the seas frozen inside our soul.” This means I read outside my comfort zone. I read books I don’t agree with. The best books change lives and opening a book is often taking a huge risk. This list is composed of books I’m glad I’ve read and would recommend to any thoughtful person. It is not exhaustive. It is a little start. If you click through to Amazon from this page and buy a book, a teeny % will go towards supporting www. dickstaub.com. Every little bit helps.
