John Stainer’s Crucifixion

CWStainer.jpg
Every year on Good Friday I listen to an old recording (out of print) of John Stainer’s Crucifixion. If brings back memories, because as a High school student I sang the Baritone solos in the Community Bible Church Choir in Fullerton California. Because the text is drawn from scripture it is also a wonderful reminder of the pathos of this day. The only selection that has survived in regular church use is, “God So Loved the World,” but if you’d like to start a new tradition, use the product link below and buy your own copy of the BBC version.
