Story
In 1971 a camera crew went to Waterloo Station in London to tape interviews with disenfranchised and homeless people, people on the fringes. When the producers got back to the studio they realized they had caught the singing of an unidentified homeless man in the background of their footage. His voice haunted them and composer Gavin Bryars recorded multiple versions which have now traveled the world.

–I went downstairs to get a cup of coffee. When I came back I found the normally lively room unnaturally subdued. People were moving about much more slowly than usual and a few were sitting alone, quietly weeping. I was puzzled until I realized that the tape was still playing and that they had been overcome by the old man’s unaccompanied singing.
