CFC. Staub. Aslan on the move!

In Chronicles of Narnia one of my favorite phrases is “Aslan is on the move” and I am here to tell you, since our Center for Faith and Culture (CFC) retreat, “Aslan” really seems to be on the move! OK. So I am more than a little excited.

We seem to be on the verge of significant breakthroughs on a few fronts. Talks have resumed about a PBS/NPR show. We have a cool idea for a weekend two-hour weekly Seattle based show that could easily be edited into a podcast. We’re also planning a new level of online interactivity. My editor just sent a next round of edits for my new book due to come out next January. Nigel Goodwin and I are set to begin a series of retreats for “thoughtful creatives and communicators.” ALL of these energies are clustered around the theme of “illuminating the bridge to God through creatives and the culture they create.”

None of this will happen without some major financial support. We need 300,000 dollars in additional donations in 2006. Pray especially for 50,000 dollars in pledges 30,000 dollars sent in by March 31, 2006. (This is a goal our advisory has set as a confirmation to go full speed ahead). YIKES!

We are setting up pay pal for online contributions – in the meantime your tax deductible contribution, large or small, can be sent to CFC PO Box 77385, Seattle, WA 98177.

One of our advisors Paul Ingram observed yesterday, “people just seem to keep finding you” and said something like “it is because there is a demand for your interpretation of faith at the intersection of culture.”

Every day we get registrations for this little blog, which is always an encouragement to me, because “finding me” is a two way street; I am always delighted to have found YOU who read this blog!”

USA Today found me yesterday quoting me twice in an article about the Hinduism of Earl! They liked my phrase “blender spirituality” and used it a couple of times. Check it out!

Yours for the pursuit of God in the company of friends, Dick Staub.

PS. And remember, “these are the best of times and the worst of times, but they are the only times we have.” (For Now).
