February 22nd, 2006

This weekend I'll be in NYC and while there I will visit with my friend Nigel Goodwin who is fond of saying, "I've always believed God is more interested in the Q than the A."

So here are some Q's for you to ponder.

Do you believe humans are created in God's image with spiritual, intellectual, creative, relational and moral capacities?

Do you believe today's culture and Christian sub-culture are each spiritually, intellectually, creatively, relationally and morally impoverished in their own way?

Do you believe as Wendell Berry said, "the significance (and ultimately the quality) of the work we do is determined by our understanding of the story in which we are taking part."

Do you believe Jesus came to earth so we could go to heaven when we die or so we could be fully human now?

Do you believe there is a relationship between individual health and cultural health?

Do you believe healthier humans would create a healthier, richer culture?

Do you believe one person can make a difference?

Do you believe you are called to be such a person?

Do you believe what a person believes should be expressed in their work and life decisions?

Does your life express what you believe?

Yours for the pursuit of God in the company of friends, Dick Staub.

PS. And remember, “these are the best of times and the worst of times, but they are the only times we have.” (For Now).
